I am assuming it probably has. Let me know if not, and I'll give you a couple of names of a couple of Richmond artists I know.... Re: painting purses - Painting on vinyl is tricky. Oil-based paints don't dry and water-based ones don't stick. I wanted to paint a vinyl tire cover for my husband's Jeep, but all the paints that worked on vinyl were spray paints. I've seen people paint on vinyl with acrylics, then spray a clear coat on top, but you'll want to do a test to be sure.
Here's someone who suggests silkscreen inks http://www.ehow.com/facts_5486135_kind-do-use-vinyl-purses.html
Here's someone who paints purses by brushing on a layer of gesso first. Scroll down past the photo to the last comment. http://www.flickr.com/photos/11418107@N02/3419677909/
Your purses are very cute! I hope you find something that works.... Re: painting purses - What great purses! They made me smile :-)... Re: Basket liners - Nice!!! Thanks for the tip. Is this how you did the zebra basket?... Re: Basket liners - Too bad I traded in the cruiser with a basket for an MTB with panniers!
Great tute though.... Re: Basket liners - It's a different way than I have done mine, but it's cool. Thanks for sharing!... Basket liners - Easy bike basket liner tutorial I wanted to share.

Jella... Re: ~Taxidermy Art~ - A friend of mine had a gorgeous butterfly in a sealed shadow box, it had been done professionally, but looked good after at least 20 years.... Re: ~Taxidermy Art~ - Wow! That stuff is amazing! Don't think I'd ever want it in my home, but fascinating.... Re: ~Taxidermy Art~ - I googled taxidermy art. I found this absolutely amazing (and kinda morbid in a cool way) artist!
http://www.customcreaturetaxidermy.com/Site/INTRODUCTION.html... Re: ~Taxidermy Art~ - also when handling butterflies, be very careful. It is the "dust" on the wings that gives them the colour and it easily comes off on your hands . or anything that touches them... Re: ~Taxidermy Art~ - the DIY tribe always has some interesting responses

and I agree about there not being much on butterflies to rot -- once they are dry they are dry, but sometimes beetles/bugs like to eat the dried creatures, so there may be a way to treat them to be less snacky.... Re: ~Taxidermy Art~ - I would imagine there's not much on a butterfly that can rot, particularly if you're buying it. Dried flowers should be no problem. Maybe you should google "diy taxidermy", though you may come up with some scary links! Maybe try "shadowbox with butterflies."... ~Taxidermy Art~ - Hi,
I saw a nice framed blue Morpho butterfly and was wondering if anyone has tried making framed art (which is more complicated than a single mounted speciman in a frame)using actual butterfly specimens (which die naturally in botanical gardens), and dried flowers. A friend of mine likes taxidermy and i would love to make her a keepsake box with a shadowbox-lid that has a nature scene with the iridescent butterfly and maybe preserved pink and yellow flowers any idea on how go go about this? i know absolutely nothing about taxidemy but think that my friend would really like it.
Thanks everyone,
Petra :)... Re: Sewing Machine Recomendations.... Anyone? Anyone? - I just came across this neat website, which has sewing machine reviews: http://sewing.patternreview.com/SewingMachine/Reviews... Re: Sewing Machine Recomendations.... Anyone? Anyone? - I'm with Wind: I've never had problems sewing multiple layers of denim on my early-70s Singer. A friend also has a Denim Pro from Babylock that handles multiple layers of denim with no hiccups, but it's not great for fine work, I've found.... Re: Sewing Machine Recomendations.... Anyone? Anyone? - I think in your shoes I would mount a search for a (used) Kennmore, Brother, or Singer from way back when sewing machines were still made of metal.... Re: I couldn't have done this with you! - woops, didnt see you were in Canada until after I posted.... Re: I couldn't have done this with you! - flat rate shipping by the USPS is your friend. I sell a lot on ebay and I only use the flat rate boxes. I think they have 5 or 6 sizes by now and also have international flat rates too! No guess work in the shipping and its guaranteed to get there with in 3 days.... Re: I couldn't have done this with you! - That's an issue for me My ex art gallery boss ships really spendy artwork anywhere. He recommends Canada Post Surface Mail.
says it's cheapest, & longest time, but time isn't usually as long as they quote, & the stuff ALWAYS gets there. But when I went there for rate info, they want to stuff my clothes into these bubble wrap lined white plastic mailing envelopes. I will not live long enough to count the wrinkles that'll greet my customers! The "nice presentation" not happenin' THAT way!... Re: I couldn't have done this with you! - Well, keep in mind that shipping costs often include more than just postage. You also need to account for your packaging, time & gas to go to the post office, etc.... Copyright © 2010, Whitecraft Software Company. All Rights Reserved. |
